Two goals, 44 seconds apart in the second period, one shorthanded, stood up as seventh-seed Western Mustangs upset the No. 2 Saskatchewan Huskies 3-2 in the first quarterfinal of the 2020 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup on Thursday at the Scotiabank Centre.

The Mustangs opened a 1-0 lead late in the first period on a goal by Reed Morison but the Huskies tied it early on the second when Carson Stadnyk beat Western goalie Luke Peresinni.

Then those two fast tallies, one shorthanded by Cordell James and a second at even strength by Stephen Desrocher gave Western a 3-1 edge going to the third period.
